Underwriting

Professional evaluation of risks and correct pricing are the main business priorities for Insurance companies. As a commercial lines underwriter, you must not only understand your own business, but the business of those whose accounts you write. Through re-organizational programs and fluctuations in human resources, companies experience a loss in the know-how in Underwriting. The AU designation program will complement the underwriting skills you have already gained on the job, and refine and develop those skills further.

The IIS offers two comprehensive and hands-on training for the Underwriting of insurance businesses and adds on suitable life classes for those parts in technique and knowledge that are important to support you in the application here in Switzerland.

1. The Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) training is based on material of The Institutes and closes with the international known diploma. You will learn about helpful information resources and options available to commercial underwriters. You will also learn straightforward and intelligent processes to guide you as you write accounts and consider coverage questions. If you are a new underwriter, AU will give you a solid foundation in good underwriting practices. If you are a veteran, AU will offer you a fresh perspective.

2. For Professional Liability Experts or future Experts that look for a distinctive designation pertaining to professional liability and available in Switzerland the IIS has teamed up with the Professional Liability Underwrtiting Society (PLUS). PLUS' unique curriculum allows people working in these specialized fields to sharpen their knowledge, to provide an overview through the variety of topics offered, and to broaden their view of the Professional Liability Insurance Market in the US and in general.

The offering of the IIS is twofold: you may follow the RPLU Designation Program and/or you may book (additionally) the Practitioner Classes offered by the IIS. This designation program has been created by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) in the US. PLUS has created the content over many years and structured it within 23 modules. In the US PLUS is recognized as the primary source of professional liability educational programs and seminars, networking events, educational products, and information regarding professional liability.
